I was showing my dad Perry the platypus from Phineas and Ferb. He likes hearing Perry make that noise and thinks it’s funny. My dad was telling me about real platypuses. Their science name is Ornithorhynchus anatinus, which means ”duck-like bird snout”. The word platypus means “flat foot.” We were laughing at the weird noise Perry makes. We wondered if real platypuses make that sound, too.

My dad found a real platypus sound! It is from the Biodiversity Conservation Branch of the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water, and Environment in Tasmania, Australia, where real platypuses live!

Perry the Platypus Theme
Jul 22nd, 2009 by alton

This awesome song is called the Perry The Platypus Theme from the Phineas and Ferb episode One Good Scare Ought To Do It! and is sung by Randy Crenshaw and Laura Dickinson. My dad thinks the way Perry chatters is hilarious. Here are the lyrics:

Major Monogram: On your way, Agent P!
Male Singer: He’s a semi-aquatic, egg-laying mammal of action!
Male Singer: He’s a furry little flatfoot, who’ll never flinch from a fray!
He’s got more than just mad skill,
Male Singer: He’s got a beaver tail and a bill,
Male Singer: And the women swoon whenever they hear him say:
Perry: (chatters)
Male Singer: He’s Perry! Perry the platypus!
Major Monogram: But you can call him “Agent P.”
Male Singer: Perry!
Major Monogram: I said “you can call him ‘Agent P’!”
All Singers: Agent P!
